Spanish rider, Jorge Lorenzo, officially joined Ducati. Racer 28 year-old will leave the Yamaha team next season.
News of the prospective merger of Lorenzo to Ducati widely heard in lately. Dispekulasikan announcement ahead of the Jerez MotoGP series.
Rumor has it become a reality after Ducati provide official statement regarding the merger of Lorenzo with the Italian factory team, Monday (04/18/2016).
"Ducati announced that it had reached an agreement with Jorge Lorenzo, thanks for the Spanish rider will take part in the MotoGP World Championship in 2017 and 2018 on a Ducati Desmosedici GP from Ducati," said an official statement quoted by Ducati Crash.
"Lorenzo, born in Palma de Mallorca on May 4, 1987, has won five world titles in his career (in the 250cc class in 2006 and 2007, and MotoGP in years 2010.2012 and 2015)," he added.
Ducati had not been reached for the world title in MotoGP racing. Last time they became world champion rider was in 2007, when they still reinforced Casey Stoner.
Ducati rider is not sure that will provide a place for Lorenzo. But, Andrea Dovizioso is confident that his place will be safe.
